How to use hydraulic winch

2025-01-20

As an efficient and reliable equipment, hydraulic winch is widely used in the fields of towing and towing. Its operation method needs to follow a series of professional steps to ensure the safety and efficiency of the operation. The following is a detailed operation guide for hydraulic winches.

Preparation
Before using the hydraulic winch, first ensure the normal operation of the vehicle. Start the tow truck or other vehicle equipped with the hydraulic winch and put the gear lever in the neutral position. Next, conduct a comprehensive inspection of the winch and its related components, including wire ropes, hooks, etc., to ensure that all components are intact and in good working condition. In addition, if a flatbed tow truck is used, the flatbed should be lowered, and the height of the rear lift should be paid attention to during the lowering process to ensure that the flatbed reaches the appropriate working position.

Connection and Setting
Before the formal operation, the clutch of the winch needs to be disengaged so that the wire rope can be pulled out freely. According to the specific situation, pull out an appropriate amount of wire rope to the vehicle to be towed or towed, and ensure that the number of turns of the remaining wire rope is not less than the specified number (usually 5 turns or more) to prevent the winch from being damaged when under force. Next, connect the hook at the end of the wire rope to the towing hook or other suitable connection point of the towed vehicle, and then re-engage the clutch of the winch to prepare for the towing operation.

Towing operation
When towing, make sure the faulty vehicle is in neutral and the parking brake is released. Use the winch operating lever or remote control to control the rotation of the winch to pull the faulty vehicle onto the flatbed or other designated location. During the towing process, always pay attention to the distance between the hook and the winch to avoid the hook being too close to the winch to prevent damage to the winch or cause safety hazards. It is generally recommended to keep the distance between the hook and the winch at least 40 cm. After the faulty vehicle is towed onto the vehicle, use the straps to secure the vehicle tires and adjust the height and position of the flatbed to ensure stability and safety during transportation.

End operation
After completing the towing, the faulty vehicle needs to be secured, the parking brake is pulled, and the gear is in the first gear (the automatic gear should be in the P gear position). Carefully check whether the straps are secure and ensure that they will not loosen or fall off during transportation. After all operations are completed, step on the clutch of the tow truck, turn off the power take-off, and end the use of the winch.

Safety precautions
Before using the winch each time, it is crucial to conduct a detailed inspection to ensure that all parts are in good working condition. At the same time, avoid overloading and never try to tow vehicles or items that exceed the rated load capacity of the hydraulic winch. During operation, the operator needs to pay attention to the surrounding environment at all times and avoid operating on uneven or unstable ground. In addition, wearing appropriate protective equipment, such as gloves and goggles, can effectively reduce potential risks during operation. Finally, strictly follow the operating procedures to ensure that every step meets safety standards to ensure the smooth progress of the operation.
